No. Everyone can walk at their own pace.
No you do not have to be a part of a team to join the walk. All heart warriors and heart warrior supporters are welcome.
Yes, we are doing something new this year. We are having prizes for teams that show up and have spirit. There will be a prize for the most spirited team and a prize for the largest team. Feel free to show team spirit and support however you like. You can have shirts made, wear the same colors, carry signs, or anything you can think of to show support for your team's heart warrior.
This wall is dedicated to all our heart warriors living or no longer with us. There will be heart name tags at the registration table to hang on the hero wall. You will write down the warrior that you are walking in honor of at the walk and this will be hung on the wall. Your warrior does not have to be at the walk. This can be a family member, friend, someone you know, etc.
A survivor is anyone who has suffered, is suffering, or survived cardiac related illness of any kind. This can be something you were born with or developed later in life.
All survivors: Don't forget to pick up your warrior hat at our heart warrior table.
This event is funded by our amazing sponsors and is free to the community. Our focus is on building connections in the heart community while spreading awareness of cardiovascular disease. We believe every heart matters, and every heart story can impact others.
A Heart Walk is typically an American Heart Association Fundraiser and community event. Expecting Hearts has teamed up with the Lubbock American Heart Association over the last few years by joining heart walks in Lubbock, Texas and raising funds to go toward the amazing research and programs the American Heart Association helps fund and support. During Covid, the heart walk was a virtual event and Expecting Hearts used this opportunity to build a local heart walk for Lea County. While still supporting and sending funds to the American Heart Association, the Expecting Hearts Heart Walk is a local event not connected directly with the American Heart Association but more in support of what the American Heart Association is doing while building a local heart community.
There will be a coffee truck and 2 food trucks available at the event for those that want to purchase drinks or breakfast. There will also be heart walk shirts available while supplies last.
